States, EPA, Nonprofit Join Forces To Protect Healthy Waters Voluntarily

The Association of Clean Water Administrators announced March 5 that it has agreed to partner with the Environmental Protection Agency and the Nature Conservancy to develop plans to preserve and protect healthy waters in state and regional ecosystems through voluntary efforts. The memorandum of understanding, which was reached Feb. 25, formally implements the Healthy Watersheds Initiative to prevent impairments. Nancy Stoner, EPA acting assistant administrator for water, announced the agreement at ACWA's midyear meeting.
