Interior Department Backs Plan to Establish Renewables Zone on Public Lands in Arizona

The Interior Department gave final approval Jan. 18 to a plan establishing 192,100 acres of renewable energy development areas on Bureau of Land Management land in Arizona. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar signed a record of decision designating the public land as "potentially suitable for utility-scale solar and wind energy development" under the department's Restoration Design Energy Project.
