Completing revisions to a Bush-era rule deregulating certain wastes, advancing a coal ash rulemaking through a legal agreement and beginning initiatives to revitalize the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act will be top Environmental Protection Agency priorities for waste regulation in 2014, the agency's top waste official told Bloomberg BNA. Mathy Stanislaus, assistant EPA administrator for solid waste and emergency response, told Bloomberg BNA Jan. 13 the rule on the definition of solid waste, now more than a year late, was one of his top priorities and said he would work "expeditiously" to complete work on the "tremendously important" regulation.
