Negotiations on California Drought Bill May Stretch Into 2015, Feinstein Says

Negotiations within the California congressional delegation on a water management bill for drought relief in their state have made progress but won't be completed before the end of the year, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said. She implied the work would continue in the hope of achieving legislation in the new year and a new Congress. The negotiation process "is ongoing and we have no agreed-upon bill at this time," she said in a Nov. 20 statement. The state's congressional Republicans weren't ready to throw in the towel. Reps. Devin Nunes and David Va-ladao both released statements saying they would continue to work on the legislation with the hope of accomplishing something before the end of the year.
