Apple, CVS Among 187 Companies Worldwide Recognized for Cutting Carbon Footprints

Apple, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and CVS Health are among 187 companies worldwide that made it onto CDP's list of corporate climate leaders for 2014. Apple, along with CVS Health and Wal-Mart, are notable newcomers to the list of companies recognized for doing the most to measure, verify and manage their carbon footprints. Other companies, such as Bank of America Merrill Lynch, BMW AG and Unilever, have been on the list for several years. Those on the 2014 Climate Performance Leadership Index (CPLI), released Oct. 15, represent the top 9 percent of the nearly 2,000 companies that reported on their climate mitigation and adaptation efforts to CDP in the past year. CDP, formerly known as the Carbon Disclosure Project, collects this data on behalf of investors representing $92 trillion, a third of the world's invested capital.
