DOE Solicits Applications for $4 Billion In Renewable, Efficiency Loan Guarantees

The Energy Department announced July 3 it will begin accepting applications for as much as $4 billion in loan guarantees for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. The loan guarantee solicitation, which was finalized July 3, is intended to fund clean energy projects that would be unlikely to obtain financing through traditional means, Peter W. Davidson, executive director of the DOE's Loan Program Office, said in an interview. "What we are really looking for is those technologies that have already been proved out at pilot scale where we could provide some loan funding to get a few projects going off the ground and proved at a commercial scale," Davidson told Bloomberg BNA.
