Rockefeller Bills Would Support Research, Tax Incentives for Carbon Capture Systems

Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) introduced two bills May 5 that would provide incentives to develop and deploy commercial-scale carbon capture systems. The bills would establish a $1 billion Energy Department fund for research and development of commercial-scale carbon capture systems, $20 billion in loan guarantees for power plants built with carbon capture systems and tax credits for carbon dioxide that is sequestered or used for enhanced oil recovery.
