摘要

The final phase of a long-term cleanup of contaminated groundwater and soil at a Superfund site in Glen Cove, N.Y., would include improved treatment methods, at an estimated cost of approximately $11.2 million, under an Environmental Protection Agency Region 2 plan proposed April 17. The Mattiace Petrochemical Co. site in Nassau County on Long Island is contaminated with volatile organic compounds from a solvent-distribution business operated there from the 1960s though 1987, according to the EPA. The company also ran a drum-cleaning business at the site from 1974 to 1983.
