Top UN Officials Call for Global Rethinking Of Fossil Fuel Use, Climate Investment

Two of the most senior United Nations officials called for governments and the private sector to reconsider their uses of fossil fuels and come together to finalize a strong and ambitious global climate treaty in Paris in 2015. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon said April 3 to a gathering of the Friends of Europe that addressing climate change is "at the top of [my] priority list," urged a shift in the "paradigm" of international development to allow developing countries to grow while also addressing climate change, called for a "realistic price on carbon" and asked countries to "summon the political will to act."
