A federal appeals court March 18 rejected a petition from the Energy Department that it rehear a case on nuclear power plants' payment of fees for radioactive waste management (Nat'l Ass'n of Regulatory Util. Comm'rs v. Dep't of Energy, D.C. Cir., Nos. 11-1066, 3/18/14). The Energy Department had requested a rehearing by a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit on the panel's ruling Nov. 19 as well as a rehearing en banc by the court.
