Lobbying on Waters of the U.S.' Falls 25 Percent From Fourth Quarter of 2012

Nearly 30 agricultural, environmental and energy groups and businesses disclosed lobbying in the last three months of 2013 on an upcoming proposed rule to clarify the scope of waters and wetlands subject to Clean Water Act protections, Senate Office of Public Records lobbying disclosures show. The filings, submitted by a Jan. 21 deadline, show a decrease of more than 25 percent from the fourth quarter of 2012 in the number of groups that disclosed lobbying on the issue, when at least 40 groups disclosed lobbying. However, the number of groups that disclosed lobbying on the issue hovered between 25 and 30 throughout 2013, indicating a steady interest in legislation and regulations on the issue.
