Senate Homeland Security Approves Four Regulatory Bills, Pulls Fifth During Markup

Four bills that would make significant changes to the rulemaking process were approved and one measure was withdrawn at a markup by the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. The four bills now move to the Senate floor but might be amended to address concerns by Democrats. Approved Oct. 7 were S. 1607, the Independent Agency Regulatory Analysis Act; S. 1818, the Principled Rulemaking Act; S. 1820, the Early Participation in Regulations Act; and S. 1817, the Smarter Regulations Act.
