The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee plans to begin at least two days of markups on a broad energy bill the week of July 27, but beyond the committee process, the path forward remains unknown, Chairman Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) told reporters. "I don't have a commitment from the majority leader as to a time certain, and in fairness, I wouldn't expect him to give me one," Murkowski said during a July 23 press conference. "We have to produce a product from our committee first."
