DOE Investing $55 Million in Biofuel Crops, Heat and Power Generation Development

The Energy Department is investing $55 million in projects to accelerate biofuel crop development and more fuel-efficient residential neat and power generatidn technologies. The funding will go to two programs within the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy, the department said June 18. The first, Transportation Energy Respurces from Renewable Agriculture, will receive $30 million to support six projects developing plant remote sensing, analysis and breeding methods to grow improved varieties of sorghum that are used to produce biofuel, the department said.
