Global Electronic Waste Volumes Reach All-Time High in 2014, UN Report Finds

Volumes of electronic waste generated globally reached an all-time high of 41.8 million metric tons in 2014 and countries recycled or reused just a fraction of that waste stream, according to a report from a United Nations think tank. The Global E-Waste Monitor, compiled by the United Nations University and released April 20, also found the volume of electronic waste, commonly known as e-waste, would rise by 21 percent to 50 million metric tons by 2018.
