White House Finishes Review of EPA Rule On Implementation of 2008 Ozone Standards

The White House Office of Management and Budget has completed its review of a regulation intended to aid states in implementing the 2008 national ambient air quality standards for ozone, according to the OMB's website. The final rule, which cleared the OMB on Jan. 30, is expected to address requirements for states in charge of implementing the ozone standard of 75 parts per billion, including requirements for new source review permitting in nonattainment areas and requirements for demonstrating attainment. The EPA's fall 2014 regulatory agenda calls for the implementation rule to be finalized by March 1, about seven years after the ozone standards were revised in March 2008.
