District Court Dismisses Lawsuit Over Release of Farmers' Identifying Information

A lawsuit aimed at preventing the Environmental Protection Agency from releasing personal identifying information of animal feedlot operators in response to Freedom of Information Act requests by environmental groups was dismissed by a federal district court (Am. Farm Bureau Fed'n v. EPA, D. Minn., No. 13-01751, 1/27/15). In a memorandum of opinion handed down late Jan. 27, the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota said the American Farm Bureau Federation and the National Pork Producers Council were unable to show standing that the release of the information would harm their members.
