Mayors Seek Return of Federal Program Offering Block Grants for Energy Efficiency

Mayors have called on Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz to bring back a federal energy efficiency block grant program that was funded only once since it was established several years ago. The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant program (EECBG) was authorized by the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, and it was funded for the first and only time in 2009 under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (40 ER 428, 2/27/09).
