Delaware Bay PCB Reduction Program Seen As Model for Cutting Chesapeake Bay Toxics

Efforts to reduce polychlorinated biphenyls in fish in the Delaware Bay watershed have been success-ful so far and could be a model for addressing toxic pollution in the Chesapeake Bay watershed, an official said Jan. 8. Thomas Fixslin, manager of the Delaware River Basin Commission's modeling, monitoring and assessment team, said that two decades of control efforts have significantly reduced PCB contamination in the basin overall.
