Record Heat Among Many Symptoms Of Changing Climate in 2015, Scientists Say

Record heat wasn't the only symptom of a changing climate in 2015, according to an annual checkup released Aug. 2 by the American Meteorological Society. Scientists already reported that the average temperature across the surface of the Earth beat out 2014 by one of the widest margins ever, thanks to a strong El Nino layered on top of a long-term warming trend. But new research led by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration shows 2015 came complete with a new record high for global average sea level and the biggest one-year jump in atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations on record.
