Native American Tribes Plan to Protest Proposed Texas Coal Mine Over Sacred Land

A group ot Native American tribes is planning a protest of a proposed south Texas coal mine April 16 because of its proximity to sacred land. Tribes participating in the protest, organized with the Sierra Club, said they haven't been properly consulted by the government before the permit was issued and are worried the mine is near sacred land, including a burial site. The proposed Dos Republicas coal mine is located near Eagle Pass, Texas, by the Texas-Mexico border.
