Measures From House, Senate Democrats Seek More Funds for Water Infrastructure

With an eye on aging, corroded lead service lines in Flint, Mich., Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.) introduced a bill that would authorize Congress to triple the funding levels for drinking water and clean water state revolving funds. Introduced Feb. 11, Cardin's bill (S. 2532) would authorize $21.17 billion between the fiscal years 2016 and 2020 for the drinking water state revolving fund, and $34.93 billion for the clean water state revolving fund during the same period.
