Volkswagen Gets First EPA Approval To Repair Some Diesel-Cheating Cars

Volkswagen AG will now be able to fix some of its diesel-engine cars designed to cheat U.S. emissions tests, instead of just buying back those vehicles. Federal regulators approved a repair covering 70,000 of the 480,000 cars with 2-liter engines that were included in a $14.7 billion settlement between drivers, VW and the government. The modifications approved by the Environmental Protection Agency, along with the California Air Resources Board, is the first fix for the almost 600,000 diesel-cheating VW vehicles still on U.S. roads.
