Georgia, Army Corps Notch Win in Row Over Atlanta Water Supply

The Army Corps of Engineers can avoid a challenge by Alabama and wildlife groups to its decision to grant Georgia’s request and allocate sufficient water to ensure Atlanta’s water supplyneeds until the year 2050, a Georgia federal court ruled.The Corps operates the Lake Lanier reservoir, which is formed by the Buford Dam. Georgia asked the Corps to modify its operation of the project to facilitate withdrawal from the reservoirand downstream.
