The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will challenge a judge’s finding that its approval of funding for predator control studies in Colorado needs additional review, according to a notice ofappeal filed in a federal court in the state.Colorado Parks and Wildlife sought funding under the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act for research projects that involved killing bears and cougars to study the effects on muledeer populations.The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service studied the environmental impacts of predator damage management and issued a finding of nosignificant impact in 2017, which the Fish and Wildlife Service adopted in part.
