A group of companies want to know whether a previous settlement cancels out a request for them to contribute the cost of cleanup at a California Superfund site in a newly filed U.S. Supreme Court petition.Halliburton Affiliates LLC and more than a dozen other companies, who claim the contribution request wasn't filed within the applicable statute of limitations, asked the court to review their case in connection with the similar Guam v. United States petition granted in January.
