Open Pit Lithium Mine Planned for Nevada Draws Suit by Rancher

A Nevada ranch sued the Bureau of Land Management Thursday alleging its decision to approve an open pit lithium mine will disturb more than 5,000 acres of federal public land.Bartell Ranch LLC and Edward Bartell sued the BLM in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada challenging the decision regarding the Thacker Pass Lithium Mine Project. Theproject was proposed by the Lithium Nevada Corp., and the BLM issued a record of decision approving it on Jan. 15.
