The Supreme Court will review a Superfund cost recovery case that left Guam with a $160 millioncleanup bill for a landfill leaking toxic chemicals into the Pacific Ocean, the court announced Friday.Guam argued the court should grant certiorari because the decision of the U.S. Court of Appeals forthe D.C. Circuit below left the territory “on the hook for a cleanup bill that would amount to atrillion dollar outlay for the Federal Government, even though the United States itself built thedumpsite at issue and used it for decades to dump toxic waste generated by the Navy,” it said in itsreply brief.
