E-Waste Recycler Faces Suit Alleging Water Pollution Violations

Electronic waste recycling company Metech Recycling Inc. isn’t stopping polluted water from flowing into a nearby creek in violation of its permit and federal water pollution law, a sportfishing group claims in a federal lawsuit in California. California Sportfishing Protection Alliance says water tested at the company’s facility in Gilroy, Calif., contained pollutants in high levels known to impact aquatic species and the environment. Storm water from the facility flows into a storm drain to Llagas Creek and then the Pajaro River, according to the lawsuit filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
