European Union governments won’t make a decision this week on a more aggressive emissionsreduction target for 2030, highlighting persistent divisions within the bloc over the pace of transition to a low-carbon economy. At their quarterly meeting on Friday, environment ministers are due to discuss the draft European Climate Law, which would make the bloc’s goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050 legally binding. They will aim for a partial deal on the measure, while deferring its key element -- the stricter goal for the end of this decade -- until their leaders make up their minds at a summit on Dec. 10-11, according to two EU diplomats with knowledge of the matter.
