Work Toward UN Development Goals Needs Close Auditing: Report

Governments will miss the 2030 social and economic development goals set by the United Nations without closer monitoring by government audit bodies, a global accounting organization warned.In a report published Tuesday, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants said such national institutions as the U.K.'s National Audit Office and the U.S. Government Accountability Office have a central role to play in monitoring progress toward the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. At the moment "governments are far off-track for achieving them by 2030," the report said.
