The Earth is heating up, and so is the consensus that more needs to be done about it. Delegates from more than 200 countries met in Paris in 2015 and set a goal to limit temperature rise to 2 degrees Celsius (3.6 degrees Fahrenheit) above pre-industrial levels by 2050. Critics say, however, this is not enough and are pressuring policy makers to commit to deeper cuts than those promised for the period 2021-2030 under the Paris climate accord. Introducing policies to cut carbon emissions, which contribute to warming, can be a challenge.
