摘要

A Health Effects Institute analysis of available research further demonstrated the link between long-term exposure to fine particulates and increased mortality, according to a report released June 3. The report, Extended Follow-Up and Spatial Analysis of the American Cancer Society Study Linking Particu-late Air Pollution and Mortality, analyzed data available from the ongoing American Cancer Society Cancer Prevention Study II, which began in 1983, as well as the 1993 Harvard Six Cities study. Researchers found links between long-term exposure to fine particles, those 2.5 microns in diameter or smaller, and increased risk of heart disease and lung cancer.
