From Missiles to Buoys: How Defense Specialists Randolph and Baldwin Entered the High Seas Market Place

After 75 years of success in the defense industry, Randolph and Baldwin has plunged into the high seas equipment pool with the manufacturing of scientific research buoys. This came about through its extensive background in watertight enclosures - starting in the 1980s with the design and later development of a heavy-duty junction box for the vertical launch standard missile. In 2012 Randolph and Baldwin was presented with an opportunity to build an extremely large watertight containment enclosure that would house some of the electronic equipment necessary for the Coastal and Global Scale Nodes portion of the Ocean Observatory Initiative (OOI).
