摘要

The wage and waged labor lie at the heat of the capitalist mode of production. Indeed, without waged labor, capitalism as an economic system would cease to exist. However, theorization of the wage has often focused upon its quantitative characteristics-how much are workers paid, and how is that amount determined?-and has ignored the qualitative question of what exactly is being determined. In this book, by way of contrast, Geoff Mann argues that it is important to understand the wage not just in quantitative terms but also in qualitative terms. In so doing, he makes (at least) two important observations.
