EPA SEEKS TO DELAY BY ONE YEAR STORMWATER DISCHARGE PERMIT CHANGES

EPA is seeking to extend by one year the terms of its general permit for stormwater discharges from construction sites, citing a variety of "high priority" efforts that are competing for the agency's attention and the need to coordinate the permit with a related national regulation. In 2008, the agency extended the terms of its 2003 construction general permit (CGP) for two years in order to allow the agency to incorporate the terms of its pending technology-based stormwater rule for the construction and development industry into the CGP. EPA is under a court deadline to issue the final construction effluent limitations guideline Dec. 1.
