摘要

EPA is planning to propose a rule later this year to improve the accuracy of its monitored emissions data after an Office of Inspector General (IG) report found errors in the methods EPA uses to ensure the accuracy of emissions monitors for carbon dioxide (CO2) and other air pollutants. The Sept. 16 IG report, EPA Needs an Oversight Program for Protocol Gases, calls for oversight of EPA's emissions data program to ensure that its testing methods for continuous emissions monitors (CEMS) ensure that the instruments are accurately recording data. The IG's findings add to ongoing concerns EPA faces over the accuracy of emissions estimates.
