摘要

A deal struck by House lawmakers to move the climate cap-and-trade bill by postponing EPA's method for calculating lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions from indirect land-use changes is raising questions over how the agency will proceed with its renewable fuels standard (RFS) proposal that relies heavily on the method.rnEPA "might want to string this out" one industry source says, in reference to the regulation, now in the midst of a public comment period. However, the source notes that the agency cannot simply drop its current work on the pending RFS, given that the climate bill is still some distance from becoming law. Still, the deal may provide EPA with leverage to take more time before finalizing the RFS as the bill proceeds, the source says.
