ACTIVIST COALITION SEEKS TO STRENGTHEN UPCOMING TSCA REFORM BILL

A broad coalition of environmental, public health and labor groups is urging Democratic lawmakers revising their chemical safety reform legislation to strengthen the version introduced in the last Congress, including granting EPA new authority to regulate harmful chemicals and raising the bar for industry to challenge agency decisions, according to a recent slide presentation.rnOn the regulatory front, the activists are calling for authority for EPA to phase out persistent, bioaccumulative toxins (PBTs) and require "immediate" exposure reductions for other "bad actor" chemicals, according to the presentation.
