EPA MAY FOLD FINE PM REMAND RESPONSE INTO ONGOING NAAQS REVIEW

Industry and environmentalist sources say it is likely that EPA will fold its response to the court remand of its 2006 fine particulate matter (PM2.5) national ambient air quality standard (NAAQS) into its ongoing review of the standard in a bid to lessen the agency's workload on the pollutant and include the latest science in the response.rnA federal appellate court earlier this year remanded EPA's annual PM2.5 standard, saying the agency needed to better justify why it maintained the existing standard rather than tightening it in line with its science advisors' recommendations.
