Matt Hale, EPA's top solid waste official, plans to retire at the end of next month after postponing his retirement several times in the past to work on the "many challenges" EPA faces in its Resource Conservation & Recovery Act (RCRA) program.rnHale, director of EPA's Office of Resource Conservation & Recovery, sent a Feb. 18 e-mail announcing his retirement to EPA Office of Solid Waste & Emergency Response regional officials and the Association of State & Territorial Solid Waste Management Officials, saying it will be effective March 31.
