OMB Clears EPA Rule To Ease Agencies' Compliance With State Air Plans

The White House Office of Management & Budget (OMB) has given its approval to EPA's long-pending final rule that aims to ease federal agencies' compliance with state plans for attaining national ambient air quality standards (NAAQS).rnAfter OMB completed its review Jan. 21, EPA is now poised to issue the regulation by the end of February, according to an informed source. The agency originally hoped to issue the final rule by the end of 2009 after sending it for White House review last August. However, OMB subsequently extended its review according to OMB's Web site.
