House Republicans likely will cut more from EPA's fiscal year 2012 budget than the millions of dollars in cuts they won in FY11 when they take up the agency's appropriations bill later this year, according to just-released proposed appropriations subcommittee spending limits. The House Appropriations interior, environment & related agencies subcommittee, which sets EPA's budget, can spend up to $27.5 billion across all the agencies under its jurisdiction, compared to $29.6 billion the subcommittee distributed in FY11, according to the so-called 302(b) allocations released May 11 by Appropriations Chairman Harold Rogers (R-KY).
