Environmental groups say they no longer see just-approved Texas legislation serving as a model for other states seeking to require hydraulic fracturing operations to disclose their chemical uses during natural gas production after the Texas House recently approved a scaled-back version of the bill to address industry concerns. But activists are nevertheless pleased that the state - a major gas producer - appears poised to adopt some disclosure rules, including first-in-the nation requirements that drillers disclose some of the chemicals used in fracking operations on a well-by-well basis.
