RGGI Urged To Align New Limits With EPA's Upcoming GHG Regulations

Environmentalists and some industry groups are urging Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states that participate in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) to adopt new greenhouse gas (GHG) limits strict enough to be considered equivalent to any future EPA regulations, which would ease industry's ability to comply with dual measures. In recent comments to RGGI officials, who met Dec. 11 in New York City to consider options for new requirements, the groups indicated that several options the states are considering for a revised emissions cap may not be sufficient to ensure compliance with future EPA rules.
