EPA Aims To Reduce Refiners' Multiple Fuels Program Reporting Burdens

EPA is crafting a direct final rule for release within the next year that aims to cut regulatory burdens on fuel refiners and oil companies by consolidating deadlines for at least 10 different reporting mandates under the agency's fuels programs including its renewable fuel standard (RFS), clean fuels policies and other requirements. The agency first suggested the reporting changes earlier this year in response to President Obama's directive to identify ways to streamline regulatory requirements. According to EPA's recently released "Action Initiation List" (AIL) of new rulemaking efforts launched in September, the agency's fuels program is now working on a direct final rule to adopt the simplified reporting requirements, which EPA projects it will publish within 12 months or less.
