摘要

Petroleum refiners are holding a series of meetings with EPA and White House officials to urge the agency against imposing stringent new emissions controls on the sector in pending proposed air toxics rules, saying EPA's tentative plans for the rule could set unnecessarily strict standards that create significant costs for the industry. In at least three meetings in the last two months, several refining companies have attempted to influence EPA's proposed air rule, which the agency submitted Sept. 9 for White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) review - the last major regulatory step before EPA can publish it in the Federal Register.
