摘要

High-level New Mexico environment officials are continuing to press their case for funding to fulfill enforceable cleanup commitments at an Energy Department (DOE) nuclear weapons site in the state while waiting for a response from DOE on the department's repeated request to the White House to add funding for the site under the current continuing resolution (CR). New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) Commissioner David Martin said in an Oct. 19 interview with Inside EPA that he is "optimistic" DOE will add funding to get the needed work done at DOE's Los Alamos National Lab (LANL), where enforceable cleanup requirements are in danger of being missed. Martin believes that after an initial rejection from the White House Office of Management & Budget (OMB) for increased funds under the CR, DOE is now re-requesting additional funds for LANL.
