Oil Industry Fears EPA Will Make E15 Certification Fuel In Tier Ⅲ' Proposal

Oil industry officials fear EPA could make ethanol blends up to 15 percent (E15) "certification" fuel to use for engine and emissions tests in its pending "Tier Ⅲ" fuel and vehicle air rule undergoing White House review, and are urging Obama administration officials to limit certification to widely available E10. Biofuels groups have been pushing for the agency to certify blends up to E30 as part of a strategy to promote ethanol fuel sales. This would replace the current zero-percent ethanol fuel currently used for certification purposes and could help to promote ethanol development, proponents say.
