摘要

EPA is adding 23 new chemicals to the list of substances it plans to assess using existing Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) authority, highlighting the agency's ongoing plan to exert its powers under the decades-old law given fading prospects for Congress to agree on a bill to overhaul TSCA and update EPA's chemical review authority. In an Oct. 23 announcement, the agency also removed 15 other chemicals that are no longer used in commerce from the list of 83 "work plan" substances for which it will assess the human health and environmental risks of for potential regulation, which along with other minor changes brings the new total to 90. EPA said it made its decisions on additions and subtractions to the list based on new data it received under its Chemical Data Reporting (CDR) program and the Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) program.
